Should my 1.6 MGF have central locking?
I rescued ArntyR recently 'cos she had no 'bling' and I felt for her disadvantage...
She's a Y reg 2001 MGF mk 2 1.6 (mpi?) with walnut cloth upholstery, no VVC, no 1.8 engine, no leather, no flash brake ABS stuff, no under bonnet or boot lights, black door handle and intake grille surrounds, no rear speakers, no tweeters no aluminium central console (just black) and probably no many other bits that I don't know about yet. She does have electric windows tho'
I seem to remember hearing that this might be a model that might have been 'blinged down' to be the new bottom-of-the-range MGF and fitted with the smaller standard 1.6 K series unit to compete with the 1.6 MX-5(?)
She has the usual 'plipper' which works the ignition and (certainly) sets the alarm but I've never got it to 'centrally lock' the car! I'm used to locking it with the key and being very wary of setting the alarm after one early Sat morning embarassment! I have fitted a new battery and synch'd it (I think)
Does anyone know if this central locking feature was also 'cut back' to save costs on this model, please?
(In spite of her 'blinglessness' she's a very cherished lady, tho')
