TF side lights

Two questions. I have just looked at my side lights and one was not working [ drivers side ] so got some new ones but as I took the old one out it worked.

The cables look O K and are solid on the connectors which only leaves the bulb holder, yes.

Now it gets a bit more complicated, on the TF there is a piece of plastic which holds the bulb and the bulb carrier these piece of plastic has three lugs on it, should these piece of plastic come out or should it be part of the head light
