100 Miles with no alternator bracket
Holy...
Fitted the adjustable alternator bracket last weekend, tightened it up properly and used loctite on the bolts. Thought all was well.
Until I was on the drive on Sunday. Shortly after we set off from Matlock I heard something metal hit the underside of my car and the road. Next time we stopped the alternator belt was screaming like a million pigs(just ask anyone who was there!).
Just went to check on it this morning and found the adjuster bracket hanging down from the engine block bolt. Not attached to the alternator at all and no sign of the nut or bolt. Luckily I still had the old bracket and bolts so have refitted that.
How lucky am I? Could have ended in disaster needing a new engine and recovery home. Shall be getting some breakdown cover today...
