Central locking wont unlock

Hi folks, just joined the forum after getting a 03 plate ZR TD this weekend.

when I got it the central locking would lock but not unlock the car, but if you used the key on the drivers door and then pressed the heated rear window switch after the engine has been started it released the passenger door and boot. I checked the tailgate wiring & have repaired and re-connected two wires & repaired damaged ones. Now it is still the same but the heated rear window works properly, however the central locking still only locks the car & I cannot release the boot or passenger door (I can pull the knob on the passenger door manually). The key does not appear to fit the boot so I cannot get into it.

any suggestions?
