Is this ZS any good?
I went and looked at a 2.0 td ZS a couple of days ago, really eager, given that it was the model, the age and around the price I was looking for.
When I got to the dealer, he handed me the key and told me the battery was flat so the central locking won't work, which was fair enough.
After asking me to hold some kind of electrical box whilst him and his accomplice rev the bo***cks off another car they were selling, and a couple of flickers on the 'alert' light, a bit of smoke from the battery, the car started.
Outside it was really nice, almost immaculate alloys, new tyres and the bodywork was cracking for its age, and big silver screw hanging out of the door where somebody had screwed the handle back on with a screw you'd use to put a picture up, but hey, I'm sure it's easily rectified.
So now the engine has been 'started' it sounded good, looked good, but when I ask to test drive, I'm told I can't because it's just been jumped, oh, and the gearbox is playing up.
At this point I notice there is an engine light on, and now all these minor points seem like something a bit bigger than is being let on. There is no service history, but will apparently be a long mot, if I go back to test drive and take it away.
It was a really nice looking car, great price, but I'm no mechanic. Has anybody encountered similar problems that has fixed easily?
Or is this something to stay away from? Any advice would be great.
Thanks.
