MG Enthusiast Mag Toyo Proxes Article
A new angle on the Japanese V Malaysian compatibility issue much talked about on this very forum.
I quote
" The new spec tyres are all Proxes T1R tyres manufactured in Toyo's Malaysian factory and the Proxes T1R tyres made in their Japanese factory from September 2014. All existing Proxes supplied and fitted to cars up to September 2014 will have been made in the Japanese plant and will be to the older specification".
Read the above carefully a couple of times and you will realize that there is some overlap, ie it is possible to get new spec Proxes made in both countries.
Obviously both the year and month of manufacturer are displayed on the sidewall as well as the country.
Not sure just how accurate the article is in this months issue of mag, but I believe it brings another complication. Yes a set of 4 Malaysian made tyres will be fine. Buying 2 rear tyres for example to match your Japanese made fronts, I assume you will need to check month of manufacturer as well as country of manufacturer. It would appear to be possible to buy Japanese made Proxes to both specs depending on MONTH of manufacturer.
Would be interested in members views on this. Happy to be proved totally wrong on this, am I putting the wrong interpretation on the key bits above which I have quoted word for word....?
