Dim dash warning lights, no starty starty

I beg for your assistance!



My poor MG ZR TD will not start! So the story so far! A few weeks ago the dash warning lights would come on dim (like a flat battery) then come on full brightness and a turn of the key and the beast lives!



untill.. today!



Driving to homebase and my speedo and rev counter stop working, do my thing in homebase come back out and.. very dim lights but no glow plug light (srs and abs light stay on but really dim) but the engine spins over no problems.



A little faffing later and now the engine won't even spin over and the you can hardly see the warning lights (in the dark) some relays under the dash click, but nothing with any commitment. the starter motor throws in but cuts out and will repeat this over and over.



tried connecting my code reader (had it in the car) but it's saying malfunction talking to ECU. any of the select able ecu's infact.



But.. all the other major electrical systems work fine. Central locking, lights, horn.. all of it!



I have tried, running a cable from earth to ecu case (no effect) checked all the earths i could find (ended up pulling one out of the inner wing behind the ecu) swapped relays around and checked all the fuses. and just to be sure I have tried jump starting it but to no avail.



I really hope your combined knowledge will return my poor beloved TD to life!
