mg zr 1.4 noisy engine when cold

Hi All,



my mg zr 1.4 is not well when its cold on 1st start up it will knock and tap not to bad for about 2-3 secs then get louder witch is embarrassing after 2-3 mins it will quieten down but you can still hear it when you pull of after about 5-10 mins it will come back load than once it is up to temp it just has a little bit of tapping there on tick over i have had the head gasket re done and at the same time had new lifters fitted as well. all the noise seems to be coming round the inlet side on number 1 is there any one that could shed some light on this please.
