MoT brake test and limited slip diffs
I have read somewhere that for the MoT, cars with limited slip differentials should not be brake tested on the rollers as damage to the limited slip diff can occur. Is the Torsen limited slip diff immune to such a damage? My Ti has always been brake tested on the rollers during mot and everything is fine. Will a Torsen diff act like an open diff when driven by the rollers hence no damage?
When I was changing oil the other day, I had the front of the car up and I rotated the right hand wheel by hand and the left hand wheel rotated as well in the same direction (limited slip), though when I held onto the left wheel to stop it turning the diff acted like an open diff and allowed the right hand wheel to turn, exactly, the way a torsen behaves when one wheel is in the air and the other is restricted.
Is the mot brake test not being done on rollers only applicable to clutch type limted slip diffs?
Any MoT tester here to enlighten us?
