New engine bits - but how do go about it?

I posted a few months back that the HG on my wife's Trophy 160 is showing signs of leaking.

She still uses the car, but I do not trust it for long drives.

I have a brand new VVC head for it, I can get that ported, polished and gas flowed no problem because it's not on the car yet.

My problem is this: I have Omega forged pistions and con rods for the bottom end, which I would like to have installed at the same time as the new head. the trouble is, no engine gurus want to take the whole car, but just the engine. Essentially, I have all the bits to change the engine internals except for the crankshaft.

This is something I cannot do, due to lack of time, space and most crucially, experience.

What can I do? I do not want to trust the work to any old garage, but want to use the reputable K-Series 'gurus' to install the new parts. But I have a nasty feeling the added cost of having to remove the entire rear subframe to get at the engine before any work can be carried out may be too much.

My wife is already suggesting I do not do it, as I have ploughed so much into the car as it is, and I can fully understand this POV.

However, we have had the car for almost 10 years now, and it still puts a smile on my face when I look at it, plus it was completely renovated, mechanically a couple of years ago.

But if having these bits fitted costs another £2-3k, I am wondering if it makes sense.

What should I do?
