Mungo's Farewell - A Very Sad Tale

Hey all, good to see the forum thriving. It's been a while since we left the scene and we're still cruising, albeit in an MX5 nowadays...



Regrettably we will soon be getting rid of Mungo, our '03 TF 115 in Trophy Blue (still the best colour). He developed an overheating problem last year after putting him into an MG 'specialist' to repair a fairly straight-forward leak around the coolant pump. Soon after the work, the car overheated during a run to Oban, and was never the same after that. He would overheat unpredictably, culminating in a spectacular steam blow-out near Junction 22 on the M8 after picking up the - supposedly fixed - car yet again from the 'specialist'.



After a lot of work, the garage owner eventually 'gave up', leaving us frustrated and genuinely heartbroken with a car that was in a worse condition than when we had first taken it in. Two different garages couldn't fix the problem that had been introduced, so after a lot of time and expense we have had to shelve sentimentality as I have completely lost faith in the wee car.



Quite a sad end after the 40k-odd trouble-free miles we enjoyed across UK and Europe, many of those miles with friends from the .org forum and others. Here he is in his glory days as a Rimmer Bros desktop wallpaper (click to enlarge).







Anyhoo... this thread has apparently already been deleted once for reading like an advert... remember the days when you could post a "what's it worth?" :D. When he *is* listed for sale I will come back and pay my dues as a Trader, or whatever they call it now.



Sorry to reappear only to post glum news, but I guess you guys know the value of the above better than most so I thought I'd give you all a heads-up.
