New car - a few questions.

Hi all, I have just acquired a 1999 220sd - really wanted an sdi - but this will do. Mileage is just over 123K and will be replacing my 214 8v. Scrapping due to severe piston slap, hydraulic followers collapsed, severe rust around the tailgate hinges - no metal left and sunroof leaks despite being sealed. 220sd a lot cheaper than fixing the 8v.



My question is whether the timing belt is 28 mm wide or 30 mm. If it is 28 mm can this be replaced with a 30 mm one or do I have to use a 28 mm one at 3x the price? Have searched on here and on eBay, Gates list the same kit for the 20T2R and the 20T2N engines.
