Rover 75 diesel not starting :(

Hi can anyone help, my rover 75 Diesel has been hard to start for a while but i assumed it was a battery problem because when i used a portable jump starter on the battery it started. However the other day it just wouldnt start i replaced the battery to test that and it still wouldnt start :( ive checked that diesel is running to and from the under bonnet pump and it is but in dribs and drabs air,diesel,air diesel etc ---
