SORN - gap before re-taxing?

If you put a car on SORN, is there currently any minimum time before you can buy new tax/RFL?



From old SORN form I can see it used to be 21days after declaring SORN before repurchasing. However I can't see where this is written anymore - did it change as a result of tax disc phase out in Oct/Nov 2014?



Long story short... Scenario is possible gap of a few weeks where no insurance will be in place (car not in use and off road), and due to new insurance rules, a SORN declaration (and auto refund of any full months) would have to be submitted to avoid breaking the law and thus getting an automatic fine. (Unless I've misunderstood?)



Trying to work out whether one could reapply as soon as new insurance in place? or whether x days has to elapse?
