Swapping the old style alternator for later one.
Sorry this may be in wrong section but there isn't one for my car.
The engine is the same as an MG F VVC but it's in my Mini Clubman. I have had 3 alternators now on this car and the bearings are going again. It's a right pig to change as the alternator has to be removed by taking out the oil filter, loosening the engine mounts and the lowering the alternator out through the gap. So I want to swap to the later one (Bosch) hoping this will be more reliable.
I also have got a bigger pulley to fit it so that when doing track days, etc it doesn't kill it again.
The mounts are the same, but the wires are different. The thick main cable is easy enough. So is the brown/yellow to dash lamp. There is an extra wire (white/red) which I need to confirm is a switched live from the starter solenoid.
Thanks in advance for any help in this matter... :)
