Intermittent starting problems
Hi all
I'm new to this forum and trying to sort out an ongoing starting problem with my daughter's TF Sunstorm.
When trying to start it all the dash lights come on ok, but the engine doesn't turn over, you just hear the fuel pump and relay at the back.
It may start in the morning, but not when she wants to go home. It may be ok for a few days and then fail to start for a couple of days.
I have trawled through various forums and spoken to MJS Auto and Marine who replaced the head gasket, water pump and cam belt last year, but no joy.
I have checked the battery ok, I have tried to jump start it without luck. You can bump start it ok.
I have replaced the starter motor and cleaned all of its lead connectors, cleaned the battery connectors and earth attachment points front and back.
Swapped round the relays in the boot, sprayed WD40 into the ignition switch, cleaned the connections to the switch, replaced the batteries in the key fobs and reset the fobs.
I've now pretty much run out of ideas so any thoughts would be appreciated.
The last job I did on the car was to replace the drivers window relay in the Plektron unit, but that shouldn't be connected.
Thanks
