Mk1 & Mk2 brake feel.
Mk1 & Mk2 brake feel.
The reason I ask is because my facelift 25 feels a bit more aggressive in the brakes than my Mk1 ZR does. The 1.4 25 is on the standard solid front discs and rear drums, the ZR is on the standard vented front discs and solid rear discs as per the 1.8 120 spec. The 25 is a lot more dusty on the front wheels than the ZR is, so maybe it's just a difference in pads?
The ZR owned by me since new feels like it always has. It's had fairly recent new discs and pads upfront and new pads at the rear not too long ago. It also has had regular fluid changes and a new caliper on one wheel. The ZR brakes to me feel excellent. Very progressive and pedictible braking, no better or worse than it's ever felt. The harder you press the pedal the more aggressive the braking becomes.
The 25 with not fully known brake service history just feels that little bit more savage when you initially apply the brakes. Considering the ZR has the 'superior' braking system I find it a bit odd how I feel myself almost over braking in the 25 sometimes when driving the two cars back to back.
The handbrake feels completely different on both cars too. They both work well, but they feel completely different. That must be down to a drum/disc difference, but the drum operated handbrake probably feels better than the discs on the ZR handbrake.
Any thoughts?
