MG ZS head gasket

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a ZS, and have found what looks to be a nice one near me. It's the 120 1.8. So, my questions... Is head gasket failure inevitable on these engines, or does it only affect some cars? Is there anything that can be done to help prevent it happening? If it does go, how much does it cost to fix it?

And finally, do you think it would be worth waiting to find the V6 instead?
