Alarm sounding all the time

Hi I haven't used my Rover 25 GLi 2006 reg since buying a BMW in April this year.

I have been starting the engine and letting it warm up every week or so but the battery keeps going flat so last time I removed the earth lead from the battery. that was a week or so ago, today when I connected the battery earth the alarm started sounding and wouldn't stop even when pressing the remote button to unlock the doors. The doors don't unlock and neither does the boot.

I found the fuse for the alarm and the remote locking and removed it. I then tried to start the engine but when I switched on the ignition the indicator lights and the red led started flashing, turning of the ignition and back on again these lights stopped and the engine started but cut strait out with the indicator lights flashing again.
With the ignition on and indicator lights flashing I pressed the remote button to open the doors, this stopped them light flashing and let me start the engine.

At one point I replaced the fuse and the alarm didn't sound or did for a short time, don't remember. The remote locking was working, unlocked the boot. Unfortunately it didn't last long before the alarm sounded again and I had to remove the fuse.

I have removed the wire plug from the Alarm sounder and replaced the fuse but the remote locking still doesn't work.

I have located the SCU and removed it, inspecting the circuit board I cannot see any damage. I measured the coil resistance of the central locking relay and it reads 245 oms which I think is about right from the information posted by technozen .

That as far as I've got, not sure what to do next, would welcome any ideas.
