Out of car battery reads 12.6 volts, on car it reads just 11.7 volts (using the same digital voltmeter) car starts as normal but the battery doesn't seem to hold a charge and when I put a voltmeter across battery when car is running it shows 13 volts, remember that the battery only shows 11.7 volts when engine is off. I have changed the regulator in the alternator and makes no difference, could it be a bad earth strap on the car??
