Hi

I have a 2001 Rover 25 and I had an issue with the heater dial a few days ago where it only turned halfway and got very stiff. I then tried to force it and I heard a cracking sound and now the dial just spins freely. I know I can get a replacement on ebay but I have two questions if anyone can help please.

1) Is replacing the dial itself just a matter of pulling it off and pushing the new one back in? If it is more complicated than that, I'd be most grateful for some specific steps.

2) Am I looking at a bigger problem here with the internal dial getting stiff?

I have tried looking through the tutorials and searching the forum. I found a tutorial that might answer number 2 (but I hope it's not the same problem as it looks a right pain to fix), but I haven't found a definitive answer to question 1.
