Another Tyre recommentdation post
Hi Guys,
I have a bit of an issue with my car feeling light/vague and drifting, I did all the initial checks, made sure its running the correct air pressure, etc., then took it for a 4 wheel laser alignment and still it drifts. Interestingly the company that did my alignment specialises in tuning lotus cars for track and they said that I have the wrong tyres which is most likely the problem.
I read up on the tyre specifics of cars and it certainly seems to be the case. I have cheap Maxxis tyres on the front and 2 different types of low budget on the rear. So I understand all the points and that I should stick to the 2/3 "recommended" brands and types, however from what I read these are not that great in the wet. Which is a problem for me.
As my car has a hard top on I intend to use it through most of the winter, but the problem is I travel some distances at times and I need tyres that are not going to see me aquaplaning along a motorway at 65mph or ditch hunting (I live in rural Suffolk) in a little frost, plus have the attributes for not wandering.
So with all that being said can anyone advise on a brand/tyre model that is either winter or all season that would tick all the boxes for the 15" wheels to help improve my handling and be winter safe?
Thanks in advance.
Si
