Coolant Loss/Heater Problems
Coolant Loss/Heater Problems
I have a 1997 Rover 114 SLI,
My last posts on here were about a coolant loss problem last summer, in the end even though it wasn't conclusive I got the head gasket and water pump changed. That was last July and since then everything has been ok. However last week when I was driving and the car was up to temperature it started getting cooler, the temperature gauge dropped which has never happened before which I found odd. Nothing else happened so I continued using it, yesterday I drove the Metro to the NEC for the classic car show, I live in Leeds so a decent 200 odd miles round trip but again it was fine.
Then this morning on my way to work when the car was up to temperature I put the heater on full heat and it was only blowing cold air, when I finished work and the engine had cooled right down I checked under the bonnet and the expansion bottle was pretty much empty. I have spoken to the place that did the head gasket and I am taking it back to them at the end of the week but in the meantime has anyone got any ideas what the problem may be please? I am dreading another head gasket problem based on the bit of research I have done on the various forums so any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you,
Thomas
