This is my daughters description of what is happening with the 1.4. any ideas what it could be?

So this problem with my car where it struggles to start happens randomly.

It can happen when I am trying to start first thing in the morning when it has been standing all night or when I have driven a short distance less than 15 mins and then try to start it again.

When I turn the ignition it sounds like it is starting and then it just dies. I don't lose power to the electrics though during this time. Often if I give it a couple of minutes rest it starts fully.
