New MAF = Sloooooooow

I was sick of looking at the EML on the Mk2 25 and I need to improve the
MPG, getting 370 on a full tanks, engine has stock injectors and only has
a Dark Ice inlet pipe and a chav filter so I bought a new MAF for it, fitted
it and cleared the fault codes, (Air Intake Temp & Mass Air Flow) but the
car is soooooo sloooooo, guessing that with no MAF fitted/not working
that is fuels its tits off hence the jerky pull off in 1st and instant power
and with the new MAF its learning still but will improve ?
