OBD Reader

Hello everyone, I hope someone here can answer my query.

I want to get a cheapish OBD reader for my 2005 45td. I don't have any faults at present but I'd like to get something in case I do. I know very little about these things and would be grateful for any advice. I've seen them on Ebay for £20 or so, are those likely to be of any use to me and what exactly do I need to get? I also have an older 25td so something that would work on that as well would be preferable.
