petrol tank vs diesel tank, are they different?

Hey all, probably a stupid question but what are the differences between petrol tanks and diesel tanks? i have found a brand spanking new tank that would happily replace my rather rusty old one, however it is for a diesel car and my ZS is petrol, can it still be used? or is it completely different? the new tank has never had any fuel of any kind inside of it
