Radiator fan issues

Hi guys

I have a strange propblem with my radiator fan that I have never experienced before.

It never used to come on or not that I noticed but over the last couple of weeks it's been coming on all the time. To the point where as soon as I turn on the ignition it's comes on.

Checked coolant level and it was slightly down so topped it up but its not moved since. The temperature gauge is reading half way as normal and not got any higher.

Plugged my sp acr4 in last night and it brought up the code 0601 twice and I can't clear either of them. It's getting annoying as I work away during the week so I do on average 400 mile a week and need the car to be reliable.

Any help would be much appreciated.
