03 Rover 45 diesel

thanks in advance --last autumn my son inlaw was driving to work in his rover 45 diesel 03 reg [shield shape remote 50k ] in heavy rain when nearly at his work the car went into limp mode .after work the car had only one "warning" light lit by the rev meter and no power at the starter.he called the RAC the man found that it had blown a fuse in the fusebox above the pedals .he replaced the fuse -it blew again he fitted a bigger fuse and that blew too.he managed to start the car and my son in law drove home .the car drove as normal[out of limp mode]when he stopped the car at home it would not restart.i replaced the fuse the next day and it blew so gave it up as a bad job.until yesterday when I popped a fuse in put a battery on and it started and all dash "warning lights" are now lit and every thing is working as it should I have drove it and is out of limp mode.the fuse that blew I believe was number 15 but my memory is not good.has any one experienced any thing like this please?RAC man thought immobilizer was gone but all is well again at the moment any ideas please?
