Just had tyres changed?

Both offside tyres needed changing, so took to tyre place to get them changed. My tyre size was 205/45R17's, but the didn't have them in stock, so they put 205/40R17's on front.



Apologies not being up on cars etc but what would that make any difference etc. I assume the tyre company know what they're doing, but is that normal practice that tye sizes on cars can be different?
