My MG ZR Project

Hi,



After owning a painfully slow punto 1.2 for a year I decided to get something with a little more horses and a little less rust! So I went out with a budget of around a grand and found myself an 05 trophey for £990! The car had a replacement engine due to the previous owner driving with a blown head gasket, the replacement has done 46,000 miles, the car itself has 86,000 on the clock:



The overall paintwork isn't great so that was first on the list, along with the dent in the driver side wing and rusting on the wheelarch



















Painted Black Roof, one of the better parts of the car:











First of the jobs was to re-paint the tastefull smurf drum brakes:







Done!







Out with the old CD player and standard front speakers, which seemed a little odd considering it had some high spec infinity 6x9s in the back















FLI component speakers from my old punto as a replacement







I have no idea as to how you manage to get a dent like this but props to the guy who did it. Time to sand back, fill and prime!

Along with this all of the alloys are curbed which again is impressive, along with a small scuff on every panel showing the previous owner had the spacial awareness of a deaf bat. Managed to finish respraying the wing and just needs to be buffed, one alloy has been completely refurbed which took 2 weeks + considering a pigeon decided to take a dirty **** all over it whilst the last layer of paint dried and had to sort out that mess.



Now for the mechanical troubles; after pushing one of the front bearings back in which was slightly worrying there is a loud creaking/crunching noise which is coming from the passengers side under light breaking. I have been told this could be due to worn bushings on the brake bar, the pads disc and caliper is fine, any ideas?

- 30% front window tints

- 60% window tints in the rear

- Black gloss roof and spoiler



Future mods



- Calibrate the zandf ecu to the car

- Better suspension possibly coilovers?

- Upgraded HT Leads

- Remove centre silencer

- Piper cams

- 4-2-1 manifold

- Twin tip backbox

- New seats

- 5 channel amp

- Sub built in to the boot

- New carbon fibre wrapped badges

- Blue pipework and hoses

- Respray in white?
