R25 question

Just been doing some old reading and wanted to pose this question.



If you had a R25 1.6k and replaced the ecu with an ecu from a MGZR 120 would this seriously be detrimental to the engine?



The reason I ask is because i was reading a PH thread where someone said that the ecu's on 1.4, 1.6 amd 1.8 k series engines are interchangeable which got me thinking that the maps surely must be different though?



Anyone help with the theory behind this.
