ZTT taking ages to fire up

My ZT T estate is taking probably around 10 seconds, maybe slightly more, to fire up in the mornings. It always does eventually start and once warm starts normally. Any ideas?

Also, (while I'm at it...) there's a strange whining sound when I'm in fifth gear, (and only in fifth). It comes on as I press the accelerator and stops if I take my foot off, even when still in gear.
