How to get rid of an airlock?

What a day!



Changed the radiator last weekend and when refilling the system l was careful to fill it SLOWLY but I still managed to get an airlock.



As the engine had been in a case of minor strip down for a month or so, I decided to change the thermostat. Hummm, why you have to remove the injection unit, but I tried without at first, gave up and removed the manifold.



All back together, SLOWLY filled the expansion tank but again it has an airlock.



I should say that I have fitted a new water pump as well.



The symptom is the fan is blowing cold, top radiator hose is hot, bottom hose is cold and the temperature gauge goes all the way to 3/4 before I turn her off.



I have tried squeezing hoses etc?



Any advice is welcome.
