MG ZS Diesel Performance Issues
Hi all,
I have a MG ZS MK1 Saloon on a 53 plate with the 115 map ECU.
I have had the car for a few month now and clocked up about 2500 miles, and i am really disappointing with the performance, i dont feel its running the power that it should be, especially when i read on the performance of other owners cars on the internet.
The performance was really bad when i first got the car, to the point where i would say it was broken, i sorted this with a second hand genuine bosh maf sensor and a new fuel filter aswell as some messing about with the boost actuator.
Now i would describe the car as running ok bottom and midrange but the power does not seem to increase much from say, 3000 rpm and the engine will not rev any higher than 3800rpm in any gear.
I have fiddled with the actuator settings alot and found a point where i feel it makes most power, any more boost and it makes it slower.
I have tryed the paperclip mod bridging wires 1 and 5 on the maf, made it run crap for the first few hundred yards making little power and kangarooing/misfueling then it cleared up and ran the same as as with the maf plugged in, no power or rev range increase, also didnt make any bad smoke like alot of people describe.
I have checked all the boost hoses for leaks and their is none, you can see and feel them pressuring up when you rev the engine.
The car is standard bar from a decat, i did a timed 0-60 run and it was about the 15 second range, wasnt helped by the fact it can only get to like 57mph in 3rd gear with the way the revs topped out, really disappointing when my mates ZR 1.4 could do 0-60 in 10 seconds, and seems to of lost one of its performance for age.
Does anyone have any suggestions or has had similar issues and managed to resolve them?
Cheers
Jonny
