rover 75 clutch

guys have just picked up a 75 club se v6 and after driving it a while i tried to change gear while in traffic and couldnt get any gear at all then after a while it started to get gears fine and has been fine since could the master cylinder playing up or just need bleeding ?? the brakes are ok tho
