PG1 Gear box 5th gear Change question
I plan on having an ultra light flywheel fitted just as I did in my last TF. Last time I also had a MS gear change and clutch arm fitted while it was all out as it seems to makes sense. I already have these sat on my shelf at home, it got me thinking however that while it was all out, how I'd like 5th to be more of a motorway cruising gear.
I know that you can take gears out of other PG1 boxes and swap them, but what I would like to know is will it make a noticeable difference?
On the very useful site that someone posted (mgf.ultimatemg.com) I found the gear ratios sheet:
TF VVC 5th gear ratio 0.765 (34/26)
R25/45 Diesel 5th gear ratio 0.648 (37/24)
Will changing to a Diesels 5th make a noticeable difference?
Has anyone done it?
At the moment from memory my car sits about about 3k doing 70mph~, does anyone know what it would sit at after the change?
If no one knows then I'm tempted to do it as I can't see how it would hurt and then the community would know too!
Thank you
