2002 MGTF 160 VVC head issues
Hi all looking some advice!
I purchased a 2002 MGTF 160 VVC that has a bill showing head gadget replacement and skim had taken place 2000 miles ago! This is dated 2 years ago!
Speaking with the previous owner it was she who had the work carried out.
Now to my issues:
There was a trace of water in the oil however the car does not overheat and does not pressurise!
I replaced the alternator 2 days ago and finally got the car running on full charge without the previous lights flickering before replacement!
The car has now put on the management light and the oil seems really gunky,
There is steam coming from the exhausts so I am 100% sure that the HG has failed!
I have been reading about this skim plate,
1. does it help after the head is skimmed?
2. Can these heads be skimmed twice?
The garage who did the head work I could easily say did not use new head bolts and have not used this plate I am reading about, they more than likely just used a headset gadget set as they are a bodywork place and not solely mechanical!
Sorry for the long winded explanation but I want to get the car back on the road ASAP
Thanks
