Alarm went off; couldn't stop it. Help!

My 2004 ZT's alarm went off tonight, a siren that would sound for a period then stop, then sound again. It was unresponsive to both keys (I have both original), I could manually unlock the door with the key, tried it in the ignition and still no response. As a last resort I disconnected the battery and of course that didn't stop it. Maybe 5 or so minutes later it turned itself off. I haven't had the cajones to reconnect the battery tonight in case it goes again, I'll give it a shot in the morning.



I did an extensive search and couldn't find anything about being unable to stop the alarm from sounding. Any ideas what might have caused this? The key (heh) factor being the inability to stop the alarm from sounding with the keys!
