Diesel advice needed

Hi all, am new here.



Hope someone can shed some light on a problem with my 1998 Rover 220 SD which has been amazingly reliable for nearly 8 years.





After doing a recent cambelt & pump belt change, the engine has been losing power and smoking badly (it looks like blue smoke) around and above 2000 RPM, and has a loud metalic sound coming from the cam cover area, but ONLY when the engine is in it's heating up period.



The engine runs fine at all speeds once normal operating temperature has been reached.





Can anyone help?
