Fun on the M1 with a blown tyre.
Well, last night travelling in the outside lane at 70mph (plus or minus 15mph) and got a catastrophic failure of the offside rear tyre.
They were coming to the end of their life, but the contact surface separated from the side wall. I think they were getting old too - I will check the dates.
The way it went meant that the back end went momentarily sideways until I corrected it and then I wobbled to the hard shoulder. Fortunately the spare was new although I now think it's unwise to have a directional tyre as a spare as it's on backwards. And with 180 miles to go, thank goodness it was dry!
Anyhoo - check your tyres everyone! ;)
