Alternative to SDIs?

Followed a red rover 25, that had SDIs fitted this morning and it has really put me off getting them.



The smoke was way too much for me. The entire rear of the dudes car was black and driving through his cloud made me think of the industrial revolution. If I was younger and had no shame I'll be all for them, but I've grown out of that stage of my life.



Are there any alternatives that give a moderate but worthwhile gain without the excessive smoke?



Should I just get my 115 remapped as is and get rid of the awful power blip around 3000rpm.



If I were to get it remapped, what bhp would I be looking at for standard injectors?
