Front Hood fasteners. Which way to tighten?

Some months ago read a thread on here but cannot find it now. I'm trying to tighten n/s hood slightly. I know to release catch and unlatch spring clip but to tighten do I turn nut left to right or right to left?

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Pun intended! Thanks
