Rover 414 SI radiator fan doesnt kick in ...unless

My Rover 414 radiator fan doesnt kick in unless the Air Con is switched on. .

I can just see another slim fan beside the air con radiator at front of vehicle . This doesnt seem to function when Air con.is on. .

Ive recently replaced the coolant fan with a new one which gas easy access . The air con fan is trickier to get at. .

Im wondering if someone has altered the wiring so the coolant fan comes on just when the air con is on. .?

Anyone come across this or can tell me whats wrong. .

Water temp guage always reads the same like theres no problem . I dont fancy a second head gasket repair .

Any ideas welcome or testing tips
