Uneven Steering rack?

Not noticed it before but after replacing my steering rack, in order to verify it is indeed a TF rack, I counted the lock to lock turns - 2.8, great!



However from the central position, it's not the same amount of turn to each lock (I forget the exact count now), is this normal?



The steering column is keyed (i think), the steering wheel is central in the car and the TRE's were installed with the same thread counts as the original (will be tracked once new tyres arrive), the TRE position was also within a thread of where the new rack had had them fitted before.
