Blue smoke

Hi

Started car to come home from work tonight and it kicked out a load of blue smoke and then cleared.

Drove home 12 miles with no problem continuously monitoring behind for a smoke trail but none.

Left car half hour then started it again and again it smoked for a couple of minutes.

No warning lights on dash and no sign of mayo on dipstick or oiler cap.

Any ideas please.
