Rover owners: door latch fault

just asking if anyone else has had this very annoying fault. a couple of days ago on closing my drivers door i was greeted with a horrible metal on metal ting type noise ( ting if you know what i mean ). on inspection the operation of door handle,lock and latch were fine, there was just this horrible sound when closing the door. some people could live with it suppose but i am not one of those people.

the only thing i could see thet didnt look ok was the black plastic cover on the latch, it looked like some was missing comparing it to the passenger side. well i f fitted the honda latch today that i got at breakers and the sound has now gone thank god. it was a pig of a job not made any easier by the anti theft brackets.

so here is a pic of the latch which shows the black plastic cover, so if anyone is having a similar problem check the door catch and hopefully this could help someone else in the future.
