1.8 VVC Oil from Charcoal Canister ???

I have a 1.8 VVC and have recently noted some oil on my driveshafts )which are spitting it all over the engine bay. It appears to be coming out of the overflow from the Charcoal Canister (although I was always under the impression this was for fuel vapour). Anyone had a similar issue or am I barking up the wrong tree with the source?
