Time for a wheel change

The standard 6 spoke 15in alloys are on my TF are starting to look a bit tired. Not kerbed but the lacquer is peeling. Good time me thinks to maybe change the wheels for 160 (11 spoke?) wheels. Apparently this isnt a straight swap I'm told something to do with brakes and disc sizes. As the discs and pads have been changed within the last 5000 miles I don't really want the expense of changing all the brakes as well as new rims and boots. So me thinks a set of BBS split rims with the centres painted lime green. Everyone who I've run this by says I've got bad taste. My TF is XPG and I think Lime green wheel centres will look the dogs danglies.

Has anyone gone this route? (Not necessarily my colour choice)

How big can I go 16in, 17in, 18in maybe?

Lastly anyone recommend a good wheel retailer (UK) who knows his stuff and that will courier them to me.
