ambarassed now

I have had no probs for ages and now another and another and another has raised its head , so I am sorry about all these posts this week ...had a new clutch 3 weeks ago , had to fit a new speedo transducer cos we broke it then cv boot split now i have detected a 'whirring' sound more prevelant in 1st and 2nd gear coming from the the N/S I think ...now wondering if the gearbox is failing ..could the disturbance of the clutch do some damage we fitted a full kit ...the noise disappears when coasting or clutch depressed...

PS could it be a consequence of the split boot ??
